The Chancellor's Award of Excellence is the highest honor that a staff member can receive for their dedication to the Texas Tech community, and this year it has been awarded to Philip Brown, a senior research associate with the Department of Plant and Soil Science.

Over his three-decade long career as a senior research associate, Brown has filled many roles, from research and administration to demonstration and outreach.  He currently holds positions as program manager of Texas Coalition for Sustainable Integrated Systems (TeCSIS) Research Program and Administrative Technical Coordinator for the Texas Alliance for Water Conservation (TAWC).  The award nomination came from Chuck West, PSS Thornton Distinguished Chair.
