Biography

Cesar Gomez earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Afterwards he obtained a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University. His undergraduate research focused on the formulation and development of innovative materials to remove trace metals from contaminated water sources.

Currently, Cesar is a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University under the supervision of Dr. Danny Reible. His doctoral research centers on evaluating stormwater management systems for their effectiveness in reducing sediment recontamination through different particle sizes. Specifically, researching the fate of organic contaminants, including Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), and Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), within these systems.

Research Interests

  • Particle size distribution of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), and Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in stormwater
  • Stormwater management
  • Fate and transport of contaminants in aquatic systems
  • Passive sampling of contaminants

Education

  • Ph.D. Candidate, Chemical Engineering, Texas Tech University, USA, Expected 2025
  • M.S, Chemical Engineering, Texas Tech University, USA, 2022
  • B.S, Chemical Engineering, Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico, 2019
