Molecular Thermodynamics and Process Simulation
Dr. Chau-Chyun Chen Jack Maddox Distinguished Engineering Chair in Sustainable Energy and Horn Distinguished Professor |
Welcome to the research group of Dr. Chau-Chyun Chen, Horn Professor and Jack Maddox Distinguished Chair in Sustainable Energy at Texas Tech University. Our group is dedicated to advancing the fundamental understanding and predictive modeling of complex chemical systems through innovative thermodynamic frameworks. Under Dr. Chens leadership—renowned for his foundational role in AspenTech and as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and member of the National Academy of Engineering—we explore a broad spectrum of molecular-based modeling approaches. Our current research focuses on the development and application of advanced models, including the adsorption Nonrandom Two-Liquid (aNRTL) model for mixed-gas adsorption, the electrolyte NRTL (eNRTL) model for ionic systems, and the Association NRTL model for associating fluids and electrolytes (AENRTL). Through this work, we aim to deepen the molecular interpretation of phase and adsorption equilibria and provide practical tools for the design and optimization of industrial processes. |
