Texas Tech Equestrian Center
The Texas Tech Equestrian Center (TTEC) is a 100-acre teaching, research, and outreach facility that is home of the Texas Tech Equestrian (IHSA) Team, Horse Judging Team, Ranch Horse Team, Rodeo Team, Therapeutic Riding Teaching and Research Center, and teaching and research program. The facility has an indoor arena with seating for about 650 people and 10 additional arenas. The TTEC maintains a horse herd of 30 to 40 horses used for teaching and team support. Located just 15 minutes from the TTU main campus, the TTEC also has over 400 stalls on-site for events, students, and outside boarders.

There's never a dull moment at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center, where our calendar is full of events - from rodeos to dog trials to classic car expos. Some of the perennial favorites include the Texas Tech College Rodeo, Panhandle Reined Cow Horse Association Shows, SPOTC Dog Agility Trials, Texas Tech Equestrian Team Open Shows, and Stock Horse of Texas Shows.

The Texas Tech Therapeutic Riding Center (TTRC) provides equine-assisted services for individuals with disabilities, special needs, and veterans. Located at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center, TTRC offers hippotherapy and adaptive horsemanship programs designed to improve strength, mobility, and overall quality of life. The center also trains students, welcomes volunteers, and contributes to ongoing research in equine-assisted therapy.
The Texas Tech Equestrian Center Student Worker Program provides hands-on experience in equine care, facility management, and event operations. Students gain valuable skills in horse handling, maintenance, and customer service while supporting daily operations of the center. This program fosters responsibility, teamwork, and leadership within a professional equine facility environment.
Student workers' duties include feeding and watering horses, cleaning stalls, assisting with turnout, and preparing arenas for lessons, practices, and events. Students also help with show setup and teardown, perform general maintenance tasks, and occasionally assist with boarder communications. Through these hands-on responsibilities, participants gain valuable experience in equine care, teamwork, and facility management.

The Texas Tech Equestrian Center spans over 100 acres and offers a variety of amenities, including multiple outdoor arenas, the Kris Wilson Fearless Champion Indoor Arena with seating for 500, warm-up and trail obstacle arenas, wash bays, and cattle access. Boarders enjoy 12' x 12' stalls with tack/feed storage, morning feeding, daytime turnouts, and access to arenas and equipment.
As outlined in the TTEC Rules, boarders are responsible for cleaning their horse’s stall, providing water, turnout, and all feeding outside of the morning service. The TTEC provides a student worker–led morning feeding service; boarders must place the morning feed outside their horse’s stall the night before. Turnouts are first-come, first-served, and horses may not be left out overnight.
All horses must have current proof of negative Coggins and vaccinations on file before arriving at the facility. Boarders are required to submit their Coggins paperwork and an updated boarder contract prior to arrival.
Boarders may pay their board through the TTEC Online Store. Rates vary based on the payment plan selected in the boarder contract. Payments can also be made by cash or check and deposited in the drop box located in the TTEC office. For more details, please click the link below.
