Literature Review and Library Research

A huge chunk of your research process will be spent conducting a comprehensive literature review. This entails immersing yourself in past and current researches in your field, which will then eventually help you formulate a strong argumentation that supports the rationale of your study. 

To gain insights on how to read articles, approach your literature review in different ways, and write a solid review paper, you may access “Introduction to Doing a Literature Review”.

There are many ways through which you can do your literature review. The main types of literature review are:

• • Scoping literature review
  • Narrative literature review
  • Integrative literature review
  • Systematic literature review

Online databases also make it a lot easier now to do your literature search. Some of the common databases used are:

• • EBSCO
  • Web of Science
  • JSTOR
  • PubMed

If you want a firmer grasp on literature review and library research, the TTU University Library is conducting regular Friday workshops. Attending eight of the ten workshops in the series makes you eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion in Research Strategies. You may want to register for the workshop if this is something that interests you.
