Course Prefix - Are four characters in length. No spaces and no ampersands (&) character.
   Course Prefix are always four characters.
 
Course Number: - Courses are numbered according to the following:
    • 0001 to 4999 - Undergraduate
    • 5000 to above - Graduate
    • 6000 - Always THESIS
    • 7000 - Research
    • 8000 - Doctoral Dissertation

Courses that begin with a "0" are remediation courses such as: XL, TASP, MATH, OR ENGL

 
THECB Course Level: - At the Undergraduate level:
    • 1 - Freshman
    • 2- Sophomore,
    • 3- Junior,
    • 4- Senior;
- At the Graduate Level:
    • 5- Master,
    • 6- Doctoral,
    • 7- Professional/Law.
The Second Number indicates the credit hours
(i.e. 4300 is a senior level course that carries three (3) hours of credit).

Variable Credit Courses: Are indicated by a second number of zero "0"

CLN Clinic Students gain proficiency and broaden experience
DEV Developmental Developmental courses designed to improve skills
DSR Dissertation Preparation of the dissertation
ENS Ensemble Students study and perform instrumental or vocal music skills
FLD Field Field work experience
IND Independent Study Students work independently with only minimal faculty direction
LAB Laboratory Instruction time is spent performing experiments, observations or data analysis
LEC Lecture Formal presentation, primarily one way communication
PRC Practicum Students applying hands on learning experience in professional setting, supervised
PRI Private Lesson Students work one on one with the instructor
RCT Recitation Students engaged in discussions with the faculty
SEM Seminar Independent investigation, students carry the major responsibility for the preparation
STU Studio Supplement to lecture-based work with tactile learning
THS Thesis Thesis workshop
XCL Non-Credit Lab Mandatory component attached to credit bearing lecture or laboratory course, designed to reinforce course material
