Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I wanted to be an ambassador to become more connected to my department and to help other students find out more about the resources available to them. I am excited to connect students and faculty while showcasing our amazing department.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose kinesiology as my major because of my interest in human anatomy and how it functions during our lives. It also allowed me to explore many of the healthcare fields before I ultimately decided to pursue physical therapy.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Don't be afraid to go to professors' office hours. It may seem scary, but it is one of the best ways to make yourself stand out from the crowd!

Future Career/Goals

I would like to become a licensed physical therapist. This career will enable me to serve others and help them live their healthiest life.

Hobbies

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, watching Netflix, and knitting.

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I aspired to be an ambassador for Kinesiology and Sports Management to give representation to fellow First Generation students. As a First Gen student it is always great to know/be able to reach out to someone who has been in your position as a First-Year student!

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose Kinesiology because of the versatility of the degree. Any pre-health track can benefit from the curriculum and is a great option for completing all your prerequisites needed! As an undergraduate in the healthcare field as well as doing research, I have found a lot of my classes have helped me be more successful.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

My advice is to get involved and network! Introduce yourself to professors, people you sit near in lectures or labs, and people at club or organization meetings. You never know what opportunities you may come across or help you can get!

Future Career/Goals

I hope to go to graduate school to get my Masters in Diagnostic Genetics to eventually do research in clinical trials as a Clinical Lab Technician.

I love to hit the gym, play volleyball, and paint!

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I chose to become an ambassador because of the fun but challenging atmosphere the TTU Kinesiology Department presented me. I want to be able to better connect this department to its students and surrounding community.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose Kinesiology as my major because I am fascinated with how the body functions whether it is on a macro or micro scale. This will also help me in the future as a health care provider.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Most people only go to college once, so enjoy your time while you're here! Don't be afraid to ask questions, try new things, and talk to people with different life experiences.

Future Career/Goals

I want to become a Physicians Associate with a specialty in orthopedics.

Hobbies

Some hobbies I enjoy are travelling, working out, coloring, dancing, and cooking (but I am always up to trying a new food place).

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I wanted to become a departmental ambassador because I was inspired by the ambassadors before me. These individuals clearly had a passion for the field and encouraged others to get involved. In addition, I see many fellow KSM students struggling to find answers to questions within the department, I being one of them. I want to be someone who can answer those questions and help others reach the conclusion they are seeking.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose Kinesiology as my major because it made the most since for my future career goals. I have known I wanted to go into OT since I was a sophomore in high school. Following a clinical class in 11th grade, I knew therapy was where I was called to be. Additionally, sports have always been a part of my life, knowing kinesiology gave me an opportunity to study how my body learns and performs these athletic maneuvers.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

My advice for incoming freshman is to be confident. Be confident in starting plans for your future early. Don't let other's pace intimidate you or hold you back from getting a head start. Be confident in your abilities and knowledge. Go into your internships with the assurance you can do whatever your mentor asks. Be sure of yourself when asking to be hands on or get involved.

Future Career/Goals

Working out (CrossFit, HIIT, long walks), swimming, being outside, reading, bible studies, being active with friends and family.

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I absolutely love Texas Tech. I see the KSM ambassador program as a way to give back to the department and bridge the gap between the faculty and the student body. I also want to further my leadership skills and communication skills.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I have always been fascinated with the human body and how each part works together to function as a whole. I know that my background in Kinesiology will give me the skills and knowledge I need to be a successful Physician Assistant.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there especially when it comes to meeting your professors. The KSM professors want you to be successful so never hesitate to ask for help and take advantage of their office hours.

Future Career/Goals

I hope to work in healthcare as a Physician Assistant (PA) one day!

I enjoy cooking, kayaking, and shopping with my friends!

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I wanted to be a departmental ambassador because it is a great opportunity to be involved in a department that is already flourishing and has an even higher ceiling of potential. I saw it as a great opportunity not only to build meaningful relationships, but also to be more knowledgeable and improve as a leader. There are many resources available that are unknown to the majority of my peers and I take pleasure in being able to assist in bringing them to light.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose to be a Kinesiology major because growing up as an athlete, I have always had an interest in the human body and its intricacies. Gaining more wisdom about the human body's response to nutrition and exercise was important to me so this major seemed like it was tailor-made for me. 

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

My advice to incoming freshmen is to stay focused on your long-term goals. It is easy to get carried away at times but it is important to always get back on track. Your college years are important in your growth as a person as you are being introduced to new things in life. It is okay to make mistakes sometimes as long as you learn from them, nobody is perfect! 

Future Career/Goals

My goal in life is centered around being able have a positive impact on people's lives in any way possible. I hope to be blessed enough to expand on that as a Physical Therapist in the future. 

Hobbies

I like to lift weights, play and watch sports, hike and enjoy being around nature. I also enjoy trying new foods, especially from different cultures..

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I love the Kinesiology department and feel passionate about helping others have the best experience at Tech. I also love to be involved in the changes we may see in our department. It is important to me for the staff and students to build relationships.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I have known I wanted to be a Physical Therapist ever since my twin sister needed it growing up due to slight cerebral palsy. I watched as her PT worked with her each week and eventually helped her to walk with no noticeable differences. I know applying to PT school doesn't require a certain major, but I wanted to learn as much about the body and exercise as I could before attending. Kinesiology was the perfect major to achieve this type of education.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Always write things down! I constantly keep a planner and to-do list to keep organized. Assignments and everyday events will creep up on you. Also, always go into a class with a positive attitude and always get to know your professors. You won't get help if you don't ask for it! This will also be useful when you need recommendation letters.

Future Career/Goals

When I graduate from Tech, I will be working towards becoming a Physical Therapist (leaning towards geriatrics).

Hobbies

Running, enjoying time with friends, learning new random skills, and volunteering.

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I wanted to become a departmental ambassador so I could educate students not only on what kinesiology is, but also what the department as a whole can provide for each student. Especially incoming freshman that might not know what major they want to explore yet.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose to be a kinesiology major because of all the anatomy that goes into kinesiology. Most of my classes incorporate anatomy and physiology, and I love learning new things about the body. With kinesiology, I am able to learn all about anatomy but also learn the effects that exercise has on the body.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

My advice would be get involved around campus. Get out and meet new people, make connections and gain knowledge that could possibly help you in the future Applying for an ambassador position was out of my comfort zone, but I saw it as an opportunity to better myself and I'm glad I took that leap!

Future Career/Goals

My goal is to continue my education and attend Occupational therapy school after graduating with my Bachelor's degree this coming May. After graduating OT school, I hope to one day work as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

Hobbies

I enjoy camping, hanging out with my friends, being around my family, and playing with my new puppy!!

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I'm always looking for ways to get involved on campus, so hearing about a position to be an ambassador for my department was something I immediately applied for! It allows me to represent something I'm passionate about while also getting to become more familiar with our department courses, staff, and incoming students. I also get the chance to inform others about our department and what we do.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I knew from a young age that I wanted to go into the medical field. Being an athlete my entire life, I was excited to be provided with the opportunity to learn about how the body moves and how the different systems contribute to movement. I also know it will be a huge help in making steps towards my goal of becoming a physical therapist.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Get to know your professors! Go to office hours and introduce yourself, let them know you're excited for their class. Also don't be scared to change things up! Sometimes changing a major or joining something you never thought you would do can be an amazing decision.

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I wanted to be an ambassador to gain more experience and knowledge through leadership. I love meeting new people and being able to help others has always been a quality of mine that I like to embrace.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

I chose this major because I wanted to major in something that I would actually be interested in and want to learn more about. Being on pre-physician assistant track, most people major in sciences like biology, but I wanted to major in something different, where I would be engaged in learning. Bones and the movement of our bodies has always been something that I was passionate to learn about.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Advice I would give freshman is to balance everything. College is about finding out how to balance, having fun will always be a part of the college experience but how to balance fun and your schoolwork is something a lot of people have difficulties in. I personally love to treat myself! So, if that's something that works for you then you should try it out to help balance your college life.

Future Career/Goals

I want to be a physician assistant hopefully specializing in pediatric oncology.

I love working out, running and traveling, and also can't forget eating.

Why did you want to be a Departmental Ambassador?

I want to show students what a great department kinesiology is, why it has helped me continue to love physical therapy and what great things it has to offer.

Why did you choose to be a Kinesiology/Sport Management Major?

Since my sophomore year of high school, I knew I wanted to do physical therapy and this department had the best classes and setup to help me do that.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Keep your options open and don't be afraid to say yes and have fun. You only get to experience college once and if that means taking a break for a few hours, do it.

Future Career/Goals

I want to graduate with honors, go to a top PT graduate school and one day become a pediatric physical therapist.

Hobbies

I love to do intramurals, workout, and be involved in activities with my friends or sorority sisters.

Why did you want to become a departmental ambassador?

I wanted to be a part of this program because it helps motivate students to become the best version of themselves. The organization does this by encouraging students to pursue high academic achievement, providing opportunity to develop strong leadership skills, supporting students to give back to the community, and embracing diversity in a community. 

Why did you choose to be a (Kinesiology/Sport Management) major?

I picked this area of study because I have always enjoyed learning about the human body and exercise science. This area of study will best prepare me for a career in occupational therapy because understanding the human body will allow me to properly care for each individual. 

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Get out of your comfort zone! Take the Airpods out, reach out, and talk to someone. This is your time to try new things, figure out who you are, and grow as a person. 

Future/Career goals?

My future career goal includes, obtaining my Doctorate of Occupational Therapy and becoming a travel OT for a few years. A few of my goals include, hiking all 50 national parks in the U.S, going ski diving, and going on a safari in Africa. 

What are some of your hobbies?

 I love to do anything that involves traveling or the outdoors. I have a slight addiction with online shopping. Going to concerts, playing sports, or hanging out with friends are some of my favorite things to do.

Why did you want to become a departmental ambassador?

I wanted to be more involved with not only the university, but the Kinesiology Department, as well. I also think it's a great opportunity to network and meet other people that have the same interests as I do! I wanted to help my fellow peers through any obstacles they may face during their educational career while allowing them to get more comfortable with the department.

Why did you choose to be a (Kinesiology/Sport Management) major?

I've always been very passionate about exercise and health. It's no surprise that when I changed my major to Kinesiology, I finally felt like I found the perfect fit for my education. I chose to study kinesiology because it allows me to expand my knowledge on something I enjoy doing.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

Get involved. Get to know your professors. Go to office hours and ask questions!!! Do not be afraid to reach out for help when needed! Finally, put yourself out there and take every opportunity you can! Enjoy the 4 years that you have at Tech because they go by way faster than you think. While you're at this fine institution for an amazing education, it's important to manage your stress and not overwork yourself.

Future/Career goals?

My goal is to be a Physical Therapist.

What are some of your hobbies?

My hobbies include cooking, weightlifting, playing video games, spending time with my dog, family, and friends.

I wanted to be a departmental ambassador because I wanted to meet more people in my field as well as getting to know more students and professors.

Why did you choose to be a (Kinesiology/Sport Management) major?

I chose to be a Sports Management Major because I love sports and business and I think it is the best major for that combination.

What is your advice to incoming freshman?

My advice for incoming freshman is to go to as many events as possible and try to get involved with organizations! Also going to sporting events is a great opportunity to meet people and have a good time.

Future/Career goals?

My future career goals are to work either in college athletics or for a professional sports team.

What are some of your hobbies?

Playing board games, playing spikeball/basketball and ping pong.
