Yeongseo Yu, Ph.D.

Yeongseo Yu examines how landscapes can be designed and planned to integrate energy infrastructure while generating broader environmental and community benefits.

His work focuses on transforming underutilized and infrastructure-oriented spaces, including rooftops, transmission corridors, and agricultural landscapes, into multifunctional landscapes that support energy production while enhancing ecological performance and community value. He combines design and planning with spatial analysis, environmental modeling, and field-based monitoring to evaluate landscape performance and inform design decisions.

Before joining Texas Tech, Yu was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he contributed to the Connecting Transmission Corridors (ConCord) Initiative and investigated how ecological, recreational, and other landscape co-benefits could be incorporated into transmission corridor planning and development. He earned his Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon, his Master of Landscape Architecture from Seoul National University, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Landscape Architecture from Kangwon National University.
