Davis College Ag Week is an annual, week-long celebration at Texas Tech University highlighting the agricultural heritage of West Texas while looking forward to the future of our region's food, fiber, landscapes, and natural resources. Ag Week events have a little something for everyone — students, alumni, faculty, and staff — and we can't wait to see you there!

The Davis College's Industry, Research, and Innovation Summit brings students and leaders across agriculture together on the Texas Tech University campus. We're creating relationships and raising the bar on what industry and academia can accomplish.

Davis College students and industry partners have the opportunity to collaborate, network, and learn from each other throughout the course of our Career Fair, Research Conference, and Innovation Challenge. For more on how you can get connected, contact Cele Stone.

Davis College Summit

A Davis College tradition since 1961! The annual Homecoming Breakfast brings alumni and friends from all of our six departments and all graduating classes together with current students, faculty and staff. Inviting everyone back to campus the morning of the Homecoming football game, the breakfast promises food and fun with an opportunity to renew old friendships, make new ones, and celebrate the accomplishments of the college.

One of the largest and oldest traditions on campus, the annual Pig Roast is a celebration honoring teams and individuals who have distinguished themselves and the University during the past year. Scholarship donors and recipients, as well as outstanding leaders in the fields of agriculture and natural resources are recognized. The event provides an opportunity to say “Thank You!” to individuals and companies who have assisted in the activities of the College.

The College’s Outstanding Agriculturalist Awards are presented each year in conjunction with the Pig Roast. Established in 1969, the awards were named after Gerald W. Thomas who severed as Dean of Agricultural Sciences from 1958 to 1970. The awards recognize one individual from three categories: Production, Agribusiness and Public Service, for their accomplishments and contributions to the industry. Winners do not have to be alumni of the College or Texas Tech University. These awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the professionals in agriculture and natural resources, and develop relationships across the industry.

The Deep Roots Podcast showcases the incredible work happening in the Davis College, from research to outreach and engagement. Each episode is unique, highlighting research and innovation our faculty have been working on.

“We are setting aspirational goals to be a top 10 college of agricultural sciences and natural resources in the country, and that’s prime,” Dean Clint Krehbiel said. “For me it’s about the journey and not the destination. Having a faculty, staff and student body that are bought into our mission is of the utmost importance to me. At the end of the day, it boils down to our people.”

The Agriculturist  is a student publication of the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications at Texas Tech University. Each semester, students enrolled in ACOM 4410: Development of Agricultural Publications produce this magazine from start to finish as part of their degree requirement.
