Biomedical Acoustics Research Lab
Welcome!
We are a biomedical engineering research lab at Texas Tech University. Our work covers
both fundamental and translational research. We study the fundamental principles in
the interaction of sound, especially ultrasound, with biological tissues. We also
apply these principles to develop diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and test
these technologies on lab animals. Ultimately, we aim to transfer our technologies
to clinical studies and commercialize them. Our current research focuses on the following:
(i) developing new elastography (elasticity imaging) methods based on acoustic
surface waves and guided waves for medical diagnosis,
(ii) investigating the response of the immune system to focused ultrasound for
cancer immunotherapy, and
(iii) designing high-performance focused ultrasound array transducers for therapeutic
applications.
We welcome graduate and undergraduate students interested in our work to join our lab. In addition, we are open to collaborations with other labs, especially with the Texas Tech Health Science Centers labs! Please contact us if you are interested in working with us.
