Red Raider Orientation
What is RRO?
Red Raider Orientation (RRO) is designed to help you become familiar with campus, learn about campus resources, meet other new students, and register for classes.
Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have chosen to adjust the Red Raider Orientation program to a hybrid model with both online and in-person components.
This 4 step RRO process includes self-paced online modules, synchronous virtual academic advising and class registration sessions during the summer months supplemented by in-person campus experiences, followed by even more activities during Raider Welcome (the weeks before classes begin).
We are in the early stages of developing this new model. We thank you for your patience as we work to transition to this new and exciting Red Raider Orientation experience!
- STEP 1: Online Orientation Modules will introduce you to the resources and services provided to you as a Texas Tech student. These online modules can be done at your own pace, but must be completed prior to your scheduled RRO Advising & Registration session. Modules will open on May 3. You will be emailed a link to complete the modules once they are available. All new undergraduate students are required to complete their Red Raider Orientation modules.
- STEP 2: You will register for a Virtual Advising & Class Registration Session on a specific date. For all students, this will be a One Day, Fully Virtual experience. Virtual advising during your session involves advising using email, telephone, or video chat technology. You will not come to campus on your date. View a sample schedule so you can know what to expect. We will email you a detailed schedule with online links to connect to your advisor two days prior to your scheduled session date. All new undergraduate students are required to attend an Advising & Registration session.
- STEP 3: Our optional On-Campus Raiderland Experience program offers the perfect opportunity to learn more about Texas Tech. Students who attend will have the chance to tour the campus, visit the residence halls, talk with campus representatives and hear what current Tech students are saying about life on campus. This one-day program is offered multiple times throughout the summer. You will register for Raiderland Experience separately from your Advising & Class Registration Session. This is an optional, but encouraged program.
- STEP 4: When you come to campus in August, Raider Welcome programming will help you prepare for a successful year and experience what it means to be a Texas Tech student.
