2018 Asphalt Road-eo

Texas Tech was invited to attend the inaugural Asphalt Road-eo on November 30th, 2018. This event was hosted by the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA) in association with TxDOT. Texas Tech entered two teams consisting of TechFLT undergraduate members with the assistance of graduate students and faculty. The teams were responsible for designing, mixing, and testing their own asphalt slabs, and prepared a presentation on the entire process. The two teams competed with schools across the region at the TXAPA facility in Buda, Texas where the asphalt slabs were tested and judged by a panel of industry professionals. There was also a job fair during this time as well, where students could interact with companies in the asphalt and materials industry. Texas Tech placed 3rd in the competition, and plans to compete for many years to come.
