Transportation Engineering in The Classroom - Teacher Workshop

Thanks to sponsorship from SPTC, Texas Tech was able to conduct a STEM teacher professional development workshop at the Science Spectrum in Lubbock, Texas. Titled "Transportation Engineering In The Classroom", this event was aimed at providing teachers of all grade levels tools and lessons to use in their own classrooms to introduce transportation engineering to students. Teachers from the Lubbock and west Texas areas attended and were led by James Holloway of Frenship High School, TechFLT faculty and students, and the Texas Tech Whitacre College of Engineering Outreach Program. The workshop was a two day event focusing on various aspects of transportation from safety and mobility, to materials and infrastructure design.

Attendees were not only provided an insight into the many facets of transportation engineering, but were also given project-based learning activities for students and a better understanding of how to adapt it to their students in order to foster an interest in transportation.
