President's Excellence in Faculty Peer Mentorship Award

This award was created to recognize faculty for exemplary and sustained activity in faculty mentorship at Texas Tech University as evidenced by both official and unofficial mentorship roles, demonstrated success of mentorship beyond regular service, and an ongoing commitment to personal improvement as a mentor. Tenured or continuing appointment faculty members with three years of documented mentorship service recognized by peers may be considered and the award carries a monetary prize of $1,500. Applicants can be nominated by faculty, chair, or dean. Applications must receive approval from the nominee's chair, director, area coordinator or dean.
Application Materials
Along with the online form, the following materials will be required for a completed application:
- Cover letter: The letter from the nominator or nominating committee should highlight the nature of the candidates exceptional contribution to faculty mentorship (not to exceed two (2) pages).
- Three Supporting Letters: Letters should include at least one submission from a colleague who has witnessed the impact of the nominees mentorship of other faculty and one submission from a faculty mentee. Individuals preparing letters of support should only write on behalf of one nominee per award cycle (not to exceed three (3) letters).
- Nominee's Mentorship Philosophy: The nominees philosophy should address their mentorship goals, peer mentorship areas, and mentees accomplishments and outcomes (not to exceed one (1) page).
- Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae: The nominees abbreviated curriculum vitae should include a section highlighting the nominees mentoring efforts and mentees demonstrated successes (not to exceed five (5) pages).
- Department Administrator or Dean Approval: Approval from the nominee's chair, director, area coordinator or dean is done through the Info Ready form. Once the application is submitted, this individual will receive a link to review and approve the application.
