Commercialization

We are excited to announce a new special session at the 2025 TTU URC -- Research Commercialization. In collaboration with our partners at the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) and the TTU Innovation Hub at Research Park, the URC will recognize 10 outstanding undergraduate student project teams who are ready to elevate their research or creative scholarship into a commercially viable business. This special session will allow group presentations; however, each project must identify a Texas Tech University undergraduate student as the lead presenter. Our 10 Commercialization semi-finalists will receive direct support and mentorship in preparing a presentation to a panel of outside experts. The panel will select up to 5 winning projects to receive:

• $1,000 cash prize
• Year-long project membership at the TTU Innovation Hub at Research Park
• Invitation to request additional funds to support prototype development

NOTE: This is a separate contest from our general Undergraduate Research Conference general sessions. Abstract submissions for the general sessions must be entered here. Projects are welcome to submit to both calls; however, they do require separate submission and review processes.

Commercialization Project Proposal

1. Review the project proposal form preview.
2. Meet with your project team to prepare your submission. Preference will be given to undergraduate teams working under the mentorship of a Texas Tech University or Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center faculty mentor.
3. Submit your project proposal - (DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED) 11:59 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
