K-12 After-school Programs and Scholastic Tournaments

Outreach is the highest priority of the Texas Tech Chess Program. Since 2007, the Chess Program has promoted chess in local schools. The program is able to send chess team members to volunteer at local schools and other community events. Thanks to the hard work of Chess Program students, there are chess classes conducted in many local after-school programs, as well as scholastic tournaments open to K-12 students. See our Events page for more information on scholastic K-12 tournaments.

The Texas Tech Chess Program is always looking for opportunities to spread the benefits of chess by giving exhibitions, lessons and lectures about chess throughout the community. Please contact us if you are holding an event and would like us to contribute.

Chess Camps:

The Texas Tech University Chess Program is thrilled to announce the dates for our Summer Chess Camp.

We are offering one camp session this summer. Camp will run for five days and meet daily from 9 am - 4 pm (CST). Campers will be assigned to a group based upon their current chess skill. Once placed, participants will receive in-depth instruction via immersive and fully interactive lessons that are designed to improve their chess game while also providing a safe, fun, and social experience. Space is limited, so please register early to secure your spot!

Don't let your children miss this very special opportunity to learn from the world's best!

All players regardless of skill level are welcome, ages 8-13. Students are grouped by skill level. All participants will receive top-level instruction, a Texas Tech Chess Camp t-shirt and have lots of fun! Visit our Summer Chess Camp page for more information on our summer camps and how to register.
