TRIO

About TRIO:

TRIO programs, under the U.S. Department of Education, are a set of federally-funded outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide assistance for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Comprising four distinct programs, including Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math and Science, McNair Scholars, and Student Support Services, Texas Tech TRIO offers a range of services such as academic tutoring, personal counseling, and mentoring to help participants navigate the complexities of postsecondary education. These programs specifically target low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities, providing them with the resources and support necessary to pursue and complete a college education.

Texas Tech TRIO Programs:

McNair Scholars Programs

The McNair programs are supported through a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Initially funded in 2017, this grant aims to facilitate academic and professional success among qualifying students.
