Crabtree is the most decorated wide receiver in Texas Tech football history, leading the nation's receivers with 125 receptions, 1,861 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
The final list is in, and Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree is the first unanimous consensus All-American at Texas Tech since Zach Thomas in 1995.
The NCAA recognizes five All-America teams: Associated Press, The Sporting News, Football Writers Association of America, American Football Coaches Association, and Walter Camp. Inclusion on all five lists garners a player unanimous consensus honors.
Crabtree is one of eight players this season named to all five of the All-America first teams. The list is a who's who of college football players from the 2007 season, including running back Darren McFadden of Arkansas, offensive lineman Jake Long of Michigan, defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey of LSU, defensive end Sedrick Ellis of USC, defensive end Chris Long of Virginia, linebacker James Laurinitis of Ohio State, and defensive back Aqib Talib of Kansas.
Crabtree leads the nation’s receivers with 125 receptions, 1,861 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
Additionally, Crabtree has been named the 2007 Biletnikoff Award Winner as the best receiver in the country. He has also been honored by the Touchdown Club of Columbus, naming him its 2007 Freshman of the Year and recipient of its Paul Warfield Award, given annually to the nation’s top receiver.
No other receiver in school history has been so decorated, and none since Lloyd Hill in 1992 has been named to an All-America first team. Crabtree joins Hill and Dave Parks (1963) as the only first-team wide receivers in school history.
Crabtree also was named CBSSports.com’s National Freshman of the Year and selected to its All-America first team. He is the only freshman listed among the offensive and defensive teams.
