FAQs for Parents

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: For Parents

Will I be able to communicate with my student?

Absolutely. While we will highly discourage the use of cell phones during events and presentations, there will be plenty of time for you to connect with your student.

Whom do I contact in the event of an emergency?

All Financial Planning Academy participants and parents will be given the contact information of all Financial Planning Academy staff. In case of an emergency during work hours (M-F, 8am-5pm), please call the Department of Personal Financial Planning at 806.742.5050.

Are parents able to be involved with the camp?

Parents are not able to attend most activities during Financial Planning Academy. Parents are able to help with move-in/move-out. Parents are welcome to attend the Closing Session and Awards Presentation on Friday, June 21.

Do I need to send extra money with my student?

Students will be given the option to purchase Texas Tech gear and extra snacks during the week, so extra spending money is encouraged. We recommend that each student bring a minimum of $15 to compensate for any possible lost access cards to the residence hall. Students will be held responsible for lost items that are camp or university property.
