Texas Tech University is seeking a full-time, staff Master Electrician / Sound Technician for the School of Theatre and Dance. The position will ideally begin in January of 2018. The position is benefits eligible, and salary is competitive and commensurate upon experience. Minimum requirements: BFA or BA in Technical Theatre and at least 3 years of significant master electrician or sound technician experience; attention to detail in both verbal and written communication, working knowledge of lighting and audio control networks and operation; working knowledge of industry standard software; working knowledge of wireless audio technology. Preferred experience level: MFA degree in Theatre (potential for teaching); working knowledge of rigging and rigging safety; ETCP certification; and significant Regional Theatre experience. Primary responsibilities include: facilitating the installation of lighting and sound for all SOTD productions; managing and maintaining the electrics shop, tools, equipment, and facilities; overseeing all appropriate safety procedures; creating and administrating budgets, schedules, and inventory maintenance; interfacing with faculty and student designers to ensure aesthetic choices are met; supervising student-workers and technical theatre students working in the electrics shop; organizing, managing, mentoring, and training students assigned to run crews; and other related duties as assigned.
