ANSC 2307: Animal Welfare and Ethics
Examines topics in animal rights philosophy, cultural differences in animal caretaking, and animal welfare. Horses, livestock, companion animals, and laboratory animals will be discussed.
ANSC 3314: Companion Animal Behavior and Training
Covers basic principles of animal learning and provides an introduction to dog training and companion animal behavioral consulting.
ANSC 3315: Companion Animal Nutrition
Nutrition and feeding of companion animals, with an emphasis on cats and dogs. Topics discussed will range from digestive systems and pet food composition to regulations.
ANSC 3318: Domestic Animal Behavior
Examines farm and companion animal behavior, including physiology of behavior, communication, social behaviors, and others.
ANSC 3321: Human-Animal Interactions
Topics include animals in society and the history and application of animal-assisted interventions to benefit human populations using horses, dogs, and other animals.
ANSC 4303: Dog Training Practicum
In this hands-on practicum, students will assist in developing and teaching community dog training classes.
ANSC 4408: Animal Shelter Management
A combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities in animal shelter management. Students will work directly with animal shelters in the community.
ANSC 4411: Advanced Animal Behavior and Training
Hands-on animal training experience including opportunities to serve as a companion animal trainer/instructor.
ANSC 4001: Special Problems in Animal Science
Must receive consent of instructor prior to registration. Expectations and responsibilites will vary depending on the instructor of record, with potential opportunities related attaining research and teaching experience.
