Michael Piatkowski, Captain

Captain Mike Piatkowski enlisted in the Army in September 2002 as an Automated Logistical Specialist. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster branch upon completion ROTC program at University of Hawaii at Manoa, in December 2012, and was recognized as the Distinguished Military Graduate. Captain Piatkowski's military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Logistics Captains Career Course, the Support Operations Course, Air Assault Course, the Basic Airborne Course, Parachute Rigger Course and Jumpmaster Course. He holds a Master of Business Administration with concentration in Organizational Change and Development.

 

Captain Piatkowski has served in several operational assignments during his career, beginning his commissioned service as Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Plans Officer in 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy. From 2017-2020, he served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC as a Deputy Support Operations Officer and later as a Company Commander in 1st Brigade Company Team. Captain Piatkowski currently serves as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

 

Captain Piatkowski has participated in three combat tours. He deployed to Iraq three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a member of 25th Combat Aviation Brigade between 2004 and 2020, and once as part of Immediate Response Force in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2020 to Kuwait. His military decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, two the Army Achievement Medals, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Parachute Rigger Badge.
