Texas Tech University at Waco resides on the scenic campus of McLennan Community College and offers upper level courses toward a bachelor's degree. Students complete their core curriculum requirements with the community college and the upper level requirements with Texas Tech University without leaving Waco. By combining quality and affordability, the partnership between McLennan and Texas Tech at the University Center offers a unique undergraduate experience.

History of TTU Biology at Waco

The partnership between McLennan Community College and Texas Tech University began in 2009. A minor in Biology was first offered as part of the Bachelor of General Studies degree in 2009. Biology and over 20 other minors are now offered on the TTU at Waco campus as part of the Bachelors of General Studies, Bachelors of University Studies, and the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree programs.

TTU Waco Biology Mac and President Nellis

The Bachelor of Science in Biology was officially offered in the beginning of Spring 2014 and began with six students declaring Biology as their major. As of the Fall 2015, there are over 25 biology majors and another 20+ students declaring Biology as a minor making Biology one of the most selected degree options at TTU at Waco. TTU at Waco is committed and excited to continue the growth and development of this degree.

On 31 August 2015, President M. Duane Nellis visited Waco to renew the partnership between McLennan Community College and Texas Tech University. During his visit a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two presidents extending the agreement between the two schools until 2021. During his visit President Nellis met with many TTU at Waco students, including biology student Mac Ewart.
