CECREH Participates in the Beyond the Floodlines Webinar on Post-Disaster Asset Preservation

January 29, 2026

On January 29, 2026, the Asset Funders Network, in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and Texas Rural Funders, hosted the third installment of their vital series, Beyond the Floodlines: A Webinar Series on Funding Asset Preservation.

The session focused on the critical role of philanthropic strategies in rebuilding communities, preserving affordable housing, and ensuring the long-term stabilization of families following climate-driven disasters. As traditional funding mechanisms and federal expenditures frequently experience systemic delays, alternative recovery financing is becoming increasingly important to expedite assistance to disaster-affected households.

Beyond the Floodlines Speakers

The webinar featured expert insights from Dr. Ali Nejat, Director of CECREH at Texas Tech University, alongside Elena White, CEO of Connective, and Madison Sloan, JD, Director of the Disaster Recovery & Fair Housing Project at Texas Appleseed. The conversation was moderated by Christopher Rios, Vice President of Social Impact at Wells Fargo, and hosted by Katie Sirakos, Program Officer at the Asset Funders Network.

For CECREH, these discussions strongly align with our ongoing research into equitable recovery outcomes and capacity-building. Exploring diverse, multi-sector funding models—including strategic philanthropic interventions—is an essential step in bridging the gap between immediate disaster relief and long-term housing resilience for vulnerable populations.
