About CECREH

Capacity-building for resilient housing.

The Center of Excellence in Capacity-building for REsilient Housing (CECREH) was established with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to address the challenges vulnerable communities face in the wake of climate-driven disasters.

Our mission

Making resilience and equity central to housing recovery.

CECREH works across disciplines and institutions to better understand climate risk, strengthen local capacity, and develop practical tools that can support more equitable post-disaster housing recovery strategies nationwide.

Our work connects research, policy, data, and community needs so that vulnerable and underserved communities are better supported before, during, and after climate-driven disasters.

Core pillars

Three priorities shape the work.

CECREH’s research is grounded in climate risk assessment, capacity building, and policy-oriented tools for resilient housing recovery.

Assessing climate risks for underserved communities

We examine past and future climate threats that shape vulnerability, exposure, and recovery challenges for communities with limited resources.

Building capacity for equitable disaster recovery

We study local capacity, unmet needs, and recovery pathways to support more effective and equitable housing recovery after disasters.

Developing tools and simulations for resilient policies

We develop data-driven models, simulations, and decision-support tools to inform climate-resilient plans, policies, and investments.
