The Center of Excellence in Capacity-building for REsilient Housing (CECREH) held its Research Retreat on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Texas Tech University under the leadership of Dr. Ali Nejat. The retreat brought students, faculty, and invited college leadership together for a focused session of research updates and discussion.

Each participant gave a three-minute high-level presentation on their research progress, followed by two minutes of Q&A. Presenters included Abigail Ulman, Jesse Andrews, Kaifa Lu, Temidayo Popoola, Hussein Orekoya, Prashant Aryal, Amin Sobhani, Danielle Craig, Mehrdad Nourbakhsh, and Paul Iyoha.

The presentations provided concise updates on ongoing CECREH research, including post-disaster housing recovery, government capacity, CDBG-DR, flood-related housing losses, managed retreat, AI applications in disasters, manufactured housing, and resilient construction. The retreat created a shared space for feedback, discussion, and alignment across the Center’s research portfolio.
