General Questions
What is CAMP?
The Career Advancement Mentoring Program (CAMP) connects Whitacre College of Engineering
students with alumni mentors to provide guidance, insight, and support as students
prepare for their careers.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. CAMP is a free program available to both students and alumni mentors.
How long does the program last?
Mentorship connections typically continue throughout the semester, but the length
of each relationship may vary depending on availability and engagement.
For Students
How do I sign up?
Eligible junior and senior students are automatically enrolled in CAMP and matched
with an alumni mentor based on their academic and career interests. Students do not
need to apply.
How are mentors matched with students?
Matches are based on shared academic interests, career goals, industry background,
and other relevant factors to create meaningful mentorship connections.
What if I don’t know what I want to do yet?
That’s completely fine. CAMP is designed to help you explore your options and gain
clarity through conversations with experienced professionals.
How often will I meet with my mentor?
There is no required schedule. You and your mentor will determine a communication
frequency that works for both of you.
What if my mentor isn’t a good fit?
If you feel your match is not the right fit, you can reach out to the program team
for support or reassignment.
For Mentors
How do I become a mentor?
Alumni can sign up by completing the mentor registration form. This information helps
the program team match you with a student.
How much time does mentoring require?
Mentorship is flexible. Most mentors connect with their mentee periodically throughout
the semester, based on mutual availability.
Do I need prior mentoring experience?
No. All that’s required is a willingness to share your experience and support a student.
What kind of guidance should I provide?
Mentors typically offer insight into career paths, internships, professional development,
and transitioning from college to the workforce.

Can I participate in CAMP if I’m not sure which role applies to me?
CAMP is designed for current junior and senior students and alumni mentors. If you
are unsure which role applies to you, contact the program team for guidance.
