CPEEC Programs

First-Year Student Transition and Engagement (FYSTE)

The transition from high school can be overwhelming, especially in the engineering discipline. We believe that it is vital that new students get off to a good start from the first time they step into at TTU classroom. The First-Year Student Transition and Engagement (FYSTE) program works to prepare incoming first-year students for the challenges ahead of them and support their academic success. All first-year students are automatic members of this program and are invited to participate in all events offered.

FYSTE offers optional mentor programs that provide students with an extra level of support and community. Students who choose to be a part of these programs will be paired with a junior or senior student in the same major who will serve as their peer mentor. The optional mentor program spots are limited, and applicants are considered on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Mentor Programs

The The Launch Your Future in Engineering (LYFE) Mentor Program aims to provide incoming Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) first-year students with an environment that fosters academic success in the engineering discipline of their choice. Through the efforts of junior and senior students who serve as peer mentors and role models in engineering, this program will provide participants with support, encouragement, and guidance. The purpose of the LYFE Mentor Program is to assist participating students through the challenges they may encounter their first year, in the college and engineering community.

Scholarships

Students participating in the ConocoPhillips Engineering Enrichment Center are eligible for scholarships within the program. These scholarships are specific to CPEEC and separate from University, College, and Departmental scholarships. First-year students participating in the program have a points system that makes them eligible for automatic scholarships. The points system consists of activities that will help them be successful in their engineering education.
