Research Ethics and Responsible Conduct of Research

Researchers with human subject

Texas Tech University upholds that, as you engage in scholarly investigations, the rights and welfare of those participating in your study are protected. There are two main strategies done to realize this principle. One is by providing sufficient training to researchers on ethical considerations in the research process. Another is establishing an enabling feedback system through the Institutional Review Board.

Training in Research Ethics

One of the quintessential skills needed to get your addiction recovery research started is dealing with human subjects/participants, ethically and responsibly. Taking the CITI Program Training for social and behavioral science researchers is the gateway to implementing studies that involve interactions with human participants or data.

Signing up for a CITI Program Training is easy. Just make sure to sign up for (1) Human Subjects TTU Social and Behavioral Investigators – Basic/Refresher and (2) Social and Behavioral Responsible Scholarship modules, which are requirements for institutional review application.

Understanding the Institutional Review Process

Institutional review is a system that ensures well-designed and ethically sound research. If you want to understand deeply about the purpose and process of institutional review, you may check the following:

The Institutional Review process is facilitated and managed through an online platform, Cayuse IRB, where you can submit and monitor IRB applications. If you want to kick off your research soon, apply for a Cayuse account now.
