Iliana is a doctoral student in the Couple, Marriage and Family Therapy program at Texas Tech University. Iliana is originally from New Mexico, where she became acutely aware that there is an urgent need for mental health professionals, especially providers who work from a systemic lens. Prior to attending TTU’s CMFT Doctoral program, Iliana received her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in history and her master’s degree in CMFT from Texas Tech University. Iliana’s research interests include involuntary celibates, gender-based violence, sexual behaviors, aggression, and reducing the recidivism rate for incarcerated youth. She plans to conduct research that addresses the aggressive and violent behaviors that are often exhibited by the involuntary celibate (incel) community.
