Skype for Business to be discontinued March 28, 2025
Posted March 12, 2025
As previously announced, Texas Tech University is adopting Microsoft Teams as its primary communications platform. The final phase of this project will start Friday, March 28, 2025, at 6:30 PM CDT, continuing throughout the weekend until completion.
Phone service will also transition to Microsoft Teams during this final phase and will experience intermittent interruptions during the migration. Additional information will be sent shortly to everyone with an 806-834-xxxx TTU personal phone number, as well as response group members and network site coordinators (NSCs). Until the migration is complete, Skype for Business remains the platform for phone calls (including 911).
Following the transition, Skype for Business will be permanently disabled for all Texas Tech University and System staff, faculty, and students. We encourage you to immediately begin using Microsoft Teams via desktop, mobile, or web for instant messaging, online meetings, screen and file sharing, and computer-based voice and video calls.
During the first hour of the migration on March 28th, from 6:30–7:30 PM CDT, the eRaider Account Management System (eRAMS) will also be unavailable for all account management tasks, including password resets.
