Introduction to Gouache Painting

Gouache [ɡwäSH, ɡo͞oˈäSH] painting has been around for centuries. Although it may be difficult to say, it's one of the easiest and most fun art media to learn! From her studio, June Musick will demonstrate how to paint with gouache, explain types of brushes, substrates, and how to finish a completed work.

Participants will need to acquire their own supplies if they wish to paint along with June.

Required Supplies:

• Gouache paint set
• Three sheets of 9″ x 12″ 140 lb. watercolor paper
• No. 10 round brush
• No. 8 round brush
• ½″ flat brush
• Pencil
• Eraser
• Paper towels/cut-up white T-shirts
• Small spray bottle with water
• 10-12 oz. container of water
• Dorland's Wax Medium
