Although I was not born in West Texas, my family roots brought me “home” back in 2006 when I started my career at Texas Tech University.

I'm a huge fan of travel, film and photography and will always consider myself rooted in the art of storytelling through theatrical pursuits. As a career advisor, teacher, and mentor, I seek to encourage others to stay true to their individual interests and path and celebrate the diversity of their success.

Hailing all the way from Henderson, Texas, I completed both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Theater at the University of Texas, Tyler and am currently completing my dissertation in Higher Education from Texas Tech University.

It is my belief that education should contribute if not compel students to push theoretical boundaries, to think intuitively, to go beyond books and journals, to reach out to others, listen, reflect, and apply. Education is more than sitting in a chair, attending a lecture, or writing a paper. Education encompasses our lives. With every decision, every choice, our lives continue to teach us well beyond commencement and it is our responsibility to share with the next generation.

Tips for Parents & Family Members

Don't forget that you too are transitioning.  Lean into your feelings and emotions and recognize that you continue to be a role model for your student.
