Carrie Romo joined Texas Tech University in April, 2014 and currently serves as Sr. Director, Strategic Research Intelligence in the Office of Research & Innovation. In this role she coordinates with faculty in developing large, multi-disciplinary proposals submitted to federal agencies, assists individual researchers restructure and refine their proposals for submission or resubmission, and works with the TTU federal affairs team to help promote TTU researchers and strengths. Carrie also works with regional, state and national partners to further develop collaborative teams to advance and achieve the strategic goals championed by the university.

In January, 2015 through May, 2016, Carrie was appointed the Interim Director of the new Texas Tech University Innovation Hub at Research Park, which served as a dual role with her ORD position. Carrie worked with TTU administration, the Research Park Advisory Board, TTU entrepreneurial offices and the construction team and to grow the tenant base, develop programming and events for the park, and act as a liaison between administration, tenants and the construction team.

Carrie received her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, in 1998 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She worked in independent and hospital laboratories in Austin and Lubbock as a Medical Technologist until starting law school in 2002. Carrie received her Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law in May of 2005 and was an associate attorney at Timberlake, Weaver and Sharp, P.C. until April, 2014. Her law practice primarily included real property title exams, estate and probate administration, and transactional document preparation.
