David fills a unique role in the EHS Department - he is an “embedded” safety officer
for the Operations Division and spends most of his time working with staff in those
shops and departments. His credentials are stellar; he has more than 44 years of
experience in safety, compliance, and Industrial Hygiene. He started in May 1978 with
the United States Air Force as an industrial hygienist, radiation safety officer,
and trainer. David retired from the service in 1994 and began working with the Department
of Energy (DOE) as an industrial hygienist until retirement in 2019. During that time,
he spent over a quarter century between Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and
Sandia National Laboratory (SNL). Being the contractor performing oversight of construction
projects. Since July 2022 David has been a Red Raider.
David Barber works as a liasion between EHS and the ARO offices within the Physical Plant. This has him split his time between the two divisions.
