J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts

The J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts is the beating heart of Texas Tech University. We're a close-knit creative community, with students from all over the world who shine with Texas-sized ambition, curiosity, and compassion. Our College is comprised of 3 separate schools: The School of Art, School of Music, & School of Theatre & Dance.

Ask me...what are you passionate about in the arts? What do you like to do as a stress reliever or to take your mind off everyday things?

Why the College of Visual & Performing Arts?

We have a dedicated 3D Art Annex equipped with gas welding setups, metal casting facility, forge, woodshop and multiple kilns.

The School of Art hosts 4 gallery spaces and several off-campus gallery spaces for student and faculty exhibitions.

The School of Music features 26 ensembles for majors and non-majors including the Goin' Band, multiple choirs, jazz ensembles, opera theatre and orchestra. It houses a music library with over 10,000 recordings and 3,000 scores, as well as 541 seat Hemmle Recital Hall with a 84-rank Holtkamp Organ.

The School of Theatre & Dance features 11 productions annually for both majors and non-majors to perform.

The Maedgen Theatre is home to our School of Theatre & Dance and includes the newly added Black Box Theatre.

Our students work in film and TV production, Cirque du Soleil and many other areas of entertainment.
