Resources and Opportunities for Faculty Mentees
On July 20th, the Faculty Mentorship Academy (FMA) mentee application will open for the 2026-2027 cohort. Faculty are encouraged to complete this form to receive a notification once the application is live.
Faculty Mentorship Academy 2026-2027 Cohort

FMA's mission is to help faculty empower each other to achieve their personal and professional goals. This nine-month program matches faculty mentees and mentors in Mentorship Circles to create a community of support and guidance on topics such as research, creative activity, professional practice, institutional resources, service, teaching, and well-being.
This program is open to those with full-time faculty appointments in all ranks and positions, such as lecturers, professors of practice, and tenure-track faculty. Chair/Director/Area Coordinator approval is required.
Participant Selection
Mentee selection will be based on various factors, including the applicants goals, potential contributions, commitment, and number of applications received.
Each Mentorship Circles will include 5-7 mentees matched with two mentors. After participants are selected, the composition of each circle will be determined by mentee preferences expressed through the application process. Some of the markers for matching include outcome preferences, home department, rank and position, duty point, and availability.
Mentee Commitment
The following requirements will ensure mentees fully benefit from the program.
- Meet monthly with Mentorship Circle mentors and mentees (at least six meetings).
- Attend a minimum of six workshops over two long semesters offered through the Teaching, Learning, & Professional Development Center (TLPDC) related to an aspect of faculty development that meets the unique values and interests of the participant.
- Meet individually with a circle mentor once per semester.
- Complete a Faculty Development Plan throughout the program to detail personal and professional goals. The plan will be shared with participants mentors.
- Complete a Mentorship Network Map to identify mentors that can support your goals in various areas.
- Participate in pre- and post-program surveys to reflect on the mentees growth and provide insights for future FMA offerings.
Program Completion
Mentees who successfully complete the FMA program will receive a certificate of participation, recognition from the Office of Faculty Success, and ongoing membership in the Faculty Mentorship Academy.
Active FMA status requires faculty members to earn Mentorship Continuing Education (MCE) credits by attending relevant workshops through the TLPDC and Office of Faculty Success. After mentees participate in FMA and achieve advancement, they may apply for consideration as a mentor.
