Fall 2018 Congressional Interns
Jenna Conners is a political science major from Austin, Texas. At Texas Tech, Jenna is involved in Student Government, Pre-Law, Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. After graduating with her degree, Jenna hopes to attend law school and work in public service or oil and gas law. This fall semester, Jenna is interning in the Office of Congressman John Carter.
Olivia Copeland is a political science student from Owatonna, Minnesota. This semester, Olivia is working in the Office of Congressman Henry Cuellar. Here at Texas Tech, Olivia has been involved in many organizations, but her most recent involvement has been in Raiders Helping Others, where she serves on the Social Justice Committee. In the future, Olivia hopes to tap into her passion for social justice, and open a shelter system for youth with marginalized identities.
Aspen Frederick, a human development and family studies major from Lubbock, Texas, is interning in the Office of Congressman Jodey Arrington this fall. Here in Lubbock, Aspen is a tutor at the Learning Center and an Honors College student. After graduating from Texas Tech, Aspen plans on attending law school. She hopes to pursue a career where she can invoke a positive impact on the world and people around her.
Pamela Gandy, a public relations major from Laramie, Wyoming, is interning in the Office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez this fall semester. Here at Texas Tech, Pamela is involved in the Tech Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and Tech Public Relations. After earning her bachelor's degree, she plans on using the skills she learns when she attends law school and Pamela hopes to later work in government.
Emily Hall, a political science and media strategies double major from Galveston, Texas, is interning in the Office of Congressman Sam Johnson this semester. On campus, Emily is involved in Kappa Delta Sorority, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Tech College Republicans. After graduating from Texas Tech, Emily hopes to be able to be a voice in government for the people through speech writing, which is why she has aspirations to become a communications director.
Ryan Hand, a marketing major from Amarillo, Texas, is interning in the Office of Congressman Mac Thornberry this semester. Here at Texas Tech, Ryan is involved in the Wesley Foundation, Tech College Republicans, ALD Honor Society, and PES Honor Society. Ryan seeks to use his passion for protecting civil discourse and free enterprise to one day work for an advertising agency to help better connect companies with their customers.
Adrian Ito is a philosophy and music double major from El Paso, Texas. This fall, Adrian is interning in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives. Here on campus, Adrian is the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity President, a College of Arts & Sciences Ambassador, and the Co-Founder of the Philosophy Club. Adrian plans on using his passion for law and the arts to work as a Federal Prosecutor, and eventually a Federal Judge.
Isabelle Lopez is a history major from Roswell, New Mexico. This semester, Isabelle has the opportunity to intern with the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means. On campus, Isabelle is a peer educator in the RISE office. Isabelle hopes to utilize the skills she has gained from this internship and her time here at Texas Tech to attend law school, and later return to her home state of New Mexico to become a prosecutor.
Bryce Matthews is double majoring in Economics and Political Science. Bryce is from Midland, Texas and he is pursuing the internship due to his interest in politics. Given his love for history, Bryce hopes to return to the Capitol upon graduation and pursue a career in public policy. Bryce is currently working in the Office of Senator John Cornyn.
Sophia McGrath, a political science major from Austin, Texas is currently interning in the office of Congressman Lloyd Doggett. Here at Texas Tech, Sophia is a part of the Pre-Law Program, Model United Nations, Miller Girls, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In the future, she plans on using this passion to work at the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer.
Chinyere Nwosu is a political science major from Sugar Land, Texas. This semester, Chinyere is interning in the office of Congressman Pete Olson. Here in Lubbock, Chinyere is a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the pre-law organization, Phi Alpha Delta. She hopes to one day become an attorney, but in the meantime, she hopes to use her interest in foreign policy and affairs to find a job where she can be a liaison for the United States in other countries.
Hector Robles is a Political Science and History major from Waxahachie, Texas. For this semester, Hector is interning in the Office of Congressman Roger Williams. Here on Tech campus, Hector is involved in Pi Sigma Alpha and the Tech History Club. Along with representing Texas Tech through the Government & Public Service Internship Program, he has also had the opportunity to travel to Vietnam to research the political and cultural impacts of the Vietnam War.
Stephen Singleton is a Masters of Business Administration student who received an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University. Stephen is a native of Missouri City, Texas and he currently manages his own photography business. Stephen is currently serving in the Office of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee.
