Program Description: Interactive Student Participation

Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday dating back to the Aztecs, is still celebrated in many parts of Mexico and is gaining popularity in the United States. Join La Catrina in celebrating this ancient holiday with its rituals and family traditions – travel with her to experience the history, preparation and symbolism associated with Dia de los Muertos. Create an ofrenda(offering), cut papeles picados (cutout tissue paper), make a cempasuchil (marigold – flower of the dead), and decorate a azucar calaveras (sugar skull).
