Program Description: Interactive Student Participation

"Show Me the Money!"  Throughout the ages, people have had something of value that was exchanged for some needed or wanted item.  Students will learn about the history of money from cowrie shells and stones to the Euro.  Students will examine how the European Union formed and what drove the union to develop the Euro currency.  By using the European Union as an example, students will look at the United States, Canada and Mexico as trading partners and design a new currency that would  facilitate trading between these 3 countries.  This highly interactive program involves looking at color symbolism, elements of money design through the observation of currency from around the world.
