Honors College Medallion Ceremony

Twice a year, the TTU Honors College hosts the Honors College Medallion Ceremony, during which graduates are presented with an Honors medallion to be worn at commencement with the student's graduation regalia. Spring and summer graduates are honored in May, and fall graduates are honored in December.

Please email honors.graduation@ttu.edu for information or visit our Honors Medallion Ceremony.

Honors Recognition

Honors College candidates earning a minimum of 24 hours of Honors coursework wear kite-shaped medallions. Medallions with gold ribbons indicate a notation of "With Highest Honors" (thesis) and red ribbons indicating a notation of "With Honors" (non-thesis).

University candidates earning a GPA of 3.9 or above are graduated Summa Cum Laude; those with a GPA of 3.7 to 3.89 are graduated Magna Cum Laude; and those with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.69 are graduated Cum Laude. Graduates earning these designations wear red cords.

Texas Tech University has five university-wide honoraries: Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board, Golden Key, and Omicron Delta Kappa. Members of these societies may wear their society pin, medallion, honor cords and/or stole. Please contact the campus chapter or national organization for more information.
