As a poet, singer, and actor, Vladimir Vysotsky is arguably the most significant figure in Russian culture in the late Soviet period. His songs were known and loved by an entire nation. In post-Soviet Russia, his verse continues to remain relevant. Vadim Astrakhan has rendered Vysotsky's immortal verse into English. Along with being an excellent translator, Astrakhan is also a gifted musician. He will perform his translations of Vysotsky's verse for the Texas Tech and Lubbock communities on Monday, March 2 at 6 pm in the International Cultural Center Auditorium.
The event is free and open to the public.
