Building the Community of Interest in AfricaPage Title

Ambassador Tibor Nagy spoke about U.S. diplomatic efforts in Africa during a working conference on “building a community of interest in Africa.” The Houston-based conference targeted the local business community which is heavily engaged in Africa – especially the emerging African energy sector – as well as members of the Texas National Guard who will be undertaking various missions in Africa. Presenters included experts in diplomacy, business, medicine, law, higher education, and the military. This was the inaugural event in what the sponsors and planners hope will become an annual conference whose mission is “to further understand the issues, environment, and challenges facing the inhabitants, governments, companies, and other organizations throughout the continent of Africa.”
