Help Other TTU Students Go Abroad
As a TTU Study Abroad alum, you are the most important player when it comes to encouraging other Texas Tech students to consider study abroad. Here’s how you can get involved by helping us to promote study abroad to the TTU community:
Become A Study Abroad Peer Advisor
If you want to connect with other TTU students who enjoyed their study abroad experience as much as you did, then consider joining the Study Abroad Peer Advisors (SAPA). SAPA is a registered student organization, and their mission is to inspire TTU students to consider study abroad by sharing stories, insights, and wisdoms from their own international experiences. They hope to create a network of TTU students who were fundamentally changed by their experiences abroad and help advise their peers regarding the study abroad process.
Peer Advisors attend meetings twice a month, participate in the Study Abroad Fairs, present to other student organizations, help to coordinate pre-departure orientations, and provide assistance to the TTU Study Abroad staff. These responsibilities connect SAPA members with prospective study abroad students while they continue strengthening the intercultural communication skills they built while living abroad. Peer Advisors also have access to leadership and professional development opportunities including lunch with Ambassador Nagy, participation in webinars about the field of education abroad, information about conferences related to study abroad, and various trainings facilitated by Texas Tech staff.
Consider A Career In International Education
The Study Abroad team provides TTU students with different avenues for launching a career in international education. Students who are eligible for work-study positions or have interest in volunteering or interning should speak with TTU Study Abroad staff about their interests.
