Marup Hossain

Marup Hossain is an Assistant Professor of rural sustainability and economic development in the Agricultural and Applied Economics Department (AAEC) at Texas Tech University.  His research primarily relates to access to finance, migration, and rural development issues. Before joining Texas Tech, Dr. Hossain was an Economist at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy. He previously worked with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the World Bank, and BRAC. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and a Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Florida.

Research Interests: Economic Development, Agricultural Policy, Rural Sustainability, Behavioral Economics, Climate Change.
