Texas Tech Police Department

The Texas Tech Police Department (TTPD) works to provide a safe and secure environment to live, learn, and educate. TTPD works closely with the faculty, staff, and students on crime prevention and security programs.  TTPD provides 24 hour law enforcement and security services for the Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center locations.

Texas Tech Emergency Management

The Texas Tech Office of Emergency Management (TTOEM) is charged with coordinating all emergency management and preparedness activities for the University. TTOEM also coordinates the development of emergency plans, including but not limited to, the Texas Tech Emergency Management Plan (TTUEMP), Emergency Actions Plans (EAP), Incident Action Plans (IAP), and the Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).

Texas State Fire Marshal

The Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office has code enforcement jurisdiction which is responsible for Texas Tech University and all state-ownedbuildings. TTUFMO works in conjunction with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to ensure new and existing buildings comply with the applicable codes and standards.

Lubbock Fire Rescue

Lubbock Fire Rescue (LFR) has fire suppression responsibility for Texas Tech and Lubbock. Its 19 stations respond to a variety of emergencies including but not limited to, fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and motor vehicle accidents.

Center for Campus Fire Safety

The Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS) website provides a place for those interested in campus fire safety to share ideas and learn from their peers. CCFS publishes the monthly newsletter “Campus Firewatch, and its site has several reports available for download.

National Fire Protection Association

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is a private, non-profit organization that serves as the world’s leading advocate and authoritative resource for fire prevention. The NFPA develops codes and standards which are adopted into law by jurisdictions throughout the country and the world. The state of Texas has adopted the 2021 NFPA 1 (Fire Code) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code) as law. The NFPA website is an excellent resource on fire safety and fire prevention principles. 

U.S. Fire Administration

The U.S. Fire Administration is a division of the Department of Homeland Security whose mission is to reduce losses of life and property due to fire-related emergencies. Its website contains a host of statistics, publications and useful links, and is a great resource for learning more about fire safety. 

Firehouse Magazine

Firehouse Magazine includes news about fire incidents from around the nation, placing a focus on fire suppression and rescue operations.
