New Cadet Orientation
New Cadet Orientation introduces incoming Air Force ROTC cadets to Detachment 820 and provides time to complete the administrative requirements needed to begin the program. New cadets should plan to attend both scheduled orientation sessions and arrive prepared with the required documents listed below.

What to Bring
Bring the following items with you to orientation. Forms are completed digitally, so cadets should bring a laptop that can connect to the Texas Tech wireless network.
Identification & Academic Records
- Laptop
- Social Security card
- Birth certificate
- SAT and/or ACT scores, official or unofficial
- All college-level transcripts, official or unofficial
- DD Form 214, if you previously served in the military
- Selective Service number, if applicable
Required Documentation
- Completed sports physical paperwork
- Civil involvement documentation, if applicable, including matters such as traffic citations
- Completed Student Information Sheet
Sports Physical
New cadets must complete the required sports physical before participating in physical training.
If you need a medical provider, Texas Tech Student Health Services is located in the Student Wellness Center and provides health care services for Texas Tech students.

Detachment 820 will provide instructions and access to the onboarding forms below during New Cadet Orientation. Cadets do not need to complete these forms in advance unless instructed by Detachment 820 staff.

Unable to Attend?
New cadets should plan to attend both orientation sessions. If circumstances prevent you from attending, contact Detachment 820 as soon as possible and explain your situation.
