Danny Kirkpatrick , PH.D. Assistant Professor of Practice, Director of the Religious Studies Program
Danny Kirkpatrick (Ph.D. University of Wales) serves as the founding director of the Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies program at Texas Tech University, one of the few 100% online programs in Religion offered by a major public research university. Having taught religion in both online and in-person formats since 2010, his approach to education is grounded in a commitment to high-quality learning, meaningful student engagement, and practical preparation for real world issues. He is particularly interested in creating learning experiences that challenge students to think critically, communicate clearly, engage diverse perspectives, and meet their professional aspirations.
Danny teaches courses spanning world religions, new religious movements, and contemporary
issues in religion. His current research explores religion and artificial intelligence,
theological and philosophical approaches to divine hiddenness and unknowability, and
the relationship between religious understandings of human personhood and theories
of personality. His broader scholarship focuses on Christian soteriology, particularly
the development of Augustinian and Reformation approaches to salvation.
