The Archaeological Institute of America is North America's oldest and largest archaeological organization. It educates teachers, students, and enthusiasts through online resources, archaeology fairs, and events. It publishes Archaeology magazine, the award-winning popular magazine covering world archaeology, and the American Journal of Archaeology, one of the most distinguished and widely circulated scholarly archaeological journals. In addition, the AIA sponsors an extraordinary series of over 300 public lectures by the world's leading archaeologists in the organization's local chapters.
On January 10, 2009 the Lubbock AIA Chapter was recognized as an affiliated Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.
