CMLL SpanishScholarships & Awards

Eligibility:

• Undergraduate Student (Junior or Senior) Majoring in Spanish
• 3.0 GPA minimum at the end of last semester     

This scholarship is awarded to juniors or seniors majoring in Spanish. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and participate in Spanish programs and activities. The award of at least $400 is payable at $200 per semester.

These scholarships are awarded to deserving juniors, seniors or graduate students majoring in Spanish courses who are interested in teaching. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, financial need, and high teacher potential. Two scholarships are awarded annually to students majoring in Spanish, with one award going to a student planning to teach bilingual education on any level and the other awardee being a student planning to teach at the elementary level. Each award will be in the amount of $300.

• Major or Minor in Music and Spanish

This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate or graduate students who combine interests in music and Spanish. This might be evidenced by majoring in one area and minoring in the other. Preference will be given to applicants who wish to work with the Gertrude C. Suppe Collection of Hispanic Church music. The scholarship will be awarded only in years when there are worthy applicants.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be applying to a study abroad program that involves the formal study of one of the languages and/or cultures taught in CMLL. Participation in programs that take place abroad but include no study of language or culture is not supported by this scholarship.
• Applicants must have taken CMLL courses prior to studying abroad or demonstrate the intention to enroll in CMLL courses after returning from study abroad. This requirement is waived for participants in CMLL-led study abroad programs, who are always eligible to apply.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Preference given to CMLL majors/minors.
• Preference given to students demonstrating financial need.
• Preference given to students participating in CMLL-led study abroad programs, and secondarily to other programs led by TTU faculty, including the Seville Program and the TTU Center in Costa Rica.
